"tröllatré blóm"

Walking through Kings Park Botanical Gardens during spring is always a treat.  The native wildflowers are amazing and diverse.  This one is just a pink eucalyptus just starting to bloom.

Pow!

Bright, bold, and amazing.  A photograph from a walk down the park.... its amazing what you can find, when you look.  Enjoy!

Photowalk scouting VIII: French tickler

OK, that was a cheap attempt to grab your attention... hehehe... but it made me giggle.  Thank you to those of you who offered suggestions to rename 'Hole in the wall'.  I think Nic wins on his suggestion, and no, I can't repeat it!  hahaha....  *blush*

This one is a shot not of a French tickler, but of a grevillia, pink and cream.  Again, this was captured whilst I was scouting around for great locations for my photowalk buddies.  It often surprises me that in my normal daily mode I probably pass hundreds of similar photographic opportunities, not once noting they are there.  However in photographic mode I see this options pop up before me.

Now those of you who have met me know that I have at least one camera on me at all times.... often more.  My challenge for this week, is to look and see!

Enjoy.

Top blue

Another post so quick after the last one... crazy!  This one is for William, who is a terrific landscape photographer who is currently using the same type of camera this one was taken with.  The Hasselblad H4D, with 120mm macro lens.  I still haven't processed the images I shot with this camera the last time I used it... but here is a quickly processed shot.  Enjoy.

Kangaroo paw

This one I debated about putting up.  I like it a lot, but it is very bold and strong.  Would look good as a very large piece I think.

Kangaroo paw's (common name of two genra of the Haemodoraceae family) are native to the South West of Western Australia.  The variety amongst the flowers is truly remarkable.  For those who haven't seen them before check out this Google Image Search page .  Of course they aren't as pretty as the image below.

Enjoy.

Lush anticipation

Well I usually don't put up two images in one day, however today is an exception.  This image is a from the spring photowalk series of native spring flowers.  Strong contrasting colour and luxuriant forms with a surprise that is about to spring forth. I thought this was a nice contrast to the earlier monotone image.  Enjoy.

Textured

Now a quick trip back to Oz, this image is from a sequence featuring spring wild flowers.  So I've given it away, that it is a floral related image.  Oh well.  I like this image for the strong form and texture.  The colours work well together, and the odd fragment or two add to break up the repeating patterns.  What do you think?

Something from Bali: White Drop I

OK this is a special post as it will be in two parts.... but I'm not going to tell you when the second post is, just yet.

Some of you may have known that recently Paul and I took a quick break away, and had 10 days in Bali, staying at two locations.  The first was The Maya, Ubud, http://mayaubud.com/ (will open in a new window).  This is our buddies, Gary and Stuart's favourite place in Bali, and we both agree is a lovely tranquil place to chill.  I'll put some holiday snaps up soon.

The other place was the Nyaman Villas, down in Seminyak http://www.nyamanvillasbali.com/ (opens in new window).  Another great place to stay but down in the busy Seminyak and all the great restuarants.

So back to this image.  This image was taken a few moments after arrival at the Maya.  The gardens are beautiful and vast.  But this set of flowers caught my eye.  Nestled in amongst the dark green foliage was this drop of purity.  White Drop.  Enjoy.

Abstract: Sunglasses maybe required

Now I know this image is not going to be to everyone's liking.  The strong bold colour, and strong contrast really resonates with me, but I can see that not everyone would like it.  It is actually an photograph of a Waratah, an Australian native flowering shrub, with a bit of manipulation.  Yes these aren't the actual colours of the flower.

As my bio says... " I seek to create extraordinary contemporary images swelling with the beauty of colour and natural forms, yet from a perspective that is often surprising and graphically startling."

Enjoy
